My carVertical report shows a damage record with a value that seems too high or too low. Why is that?

Repair estimates can vary based on different factors, and the reported amount may not always match what was actually paid. Here’s why.

Why may damage values differ?

damage records found in carVertical report

1. Repair costs reflect official auto repair center pricing

Damage valuations typically estimate what it would cost to repair the vehicle at an authorized service center. These centers typically use more expensive parts and charge more for work.

2. Repair costs are based on market prices in the country where the damage was recorded

If the vehicle was damaged in a different country, the estimated repair costs reflect local market rates in that location (which can be higher or lower, depending on your location).
